A Note from the Author

Stories are how we learn. They shape our childhood, our values, and our faith.

I am Mariam Hashmi, a neuropsychologist, educator, and lifelong lover of storytelling. Since 2015, I have worked in neurodevelopment and memory research at Southern Illinois University, Rush University, Palo Alto University, and Stanford University, studying how we absorb knowledge and carry it with us for life. Later, in 2019, I pursued studies in the Composition, Collection, and Teachings of the Qur’an and gained experience teaching Islamic Studies at Muslim Society Inc. It was here that I first saw the huge gap in our Islamic curriculum—a gap that needed to be filled with stories that truly engaged young hearts.

I now teach Lifespan Development, Personality, and Neuropsychology at Palo Alto University while serving as a Learning Specialist at Western University.

But my passion has always been storytelling—because it is Allah’s chosen method of teaching. The Qur’an itself teaches through stories, and the Prophet ﷺ nurtured young hearts through lessons woven into narratives of faith, wisdom, and wonder.

My time at MSI stayed with me, and using my background in learning, memory, and child development, I created Prophet Tales—a 25-book series designed to bring the stories of the Prophets to life in a way that is engaging, enriching, and timeless. These books are meant to be treasured, read, and passed down—to become a Ramadan tradition, a bedtime favorite, and a source of faith-filled memories for generations to come.

Because the best stories aren’t just read—they are lived, loved, and carried in our hearts forever.

📚 Join me on this journey, and let’s build a generation raised on the wisdom of the Prophets.
